This beautiful native, perennial wildflower takes its name for the brilliant array of red, yellow and orange hues and tendency to create what may look like an Indian Blanket.
The genus name "Gaillardia" honors an 18th century French botanist named Gaillard de Charentonneau.
Prolific and generous with her blooms, this Gaillardia has a long blooming time beginning in May through the first frost. Gaillardia provides pollen and nectar for pollinators and providing forage for birds (specifically goldfinches) at the end of their garden life.
A perfect companion for a meadow, pollinator garden, rock garden, cottage garden, xeriscaping or a wildflower garden. This beautiful native is also highly tolerant to sandy soils and salty conditions, making it a perfect addition to gardens with difficult growing conditions.
